The Project entails a large-scale assessment of and planning for the health of important natural resources, known as Conservation Assets (CAs), in Florida. Conservation planning at the landscape scale provides a framework for safeguarding functional ecosystems, and their interconnected processes necessary to achieve true preservation of healthy resources. Spatially explicit data from the project informs coordination and prioritization for making conservation decisions. A suite of ecological indicators was carefully selected for each CA to represent important characteristics of each Asset and offers metrics that serve to evaluate current status, monitor trends over time, and guide conservation activities with clear measures of the effectiveness of outcomes. Results are shared routinely on the Florida Conservation Planning Atlas website (www.floridacpa.com) and periodically in a summary report card that will be available for managers and the wider public.

Bank Stability is a parameter in the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Bioassessment Program. The streambank is assessed for erosion and/or unnatural build-up caused by human disturbance. Data are collected as part of a variety of programs, including the Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) samples, Ambient Status Program, and a variety of other programs that adopt some bioassessment procedures. Together with a suite of other habitat parameters, bank stability contributes to the overall evaluation of habitat along a sample transect. For more information, see

Rivers and Streams data are from the CLC 3.3 and the National Hydrologic Dataset. The CLC provides some information on width of channels where they can be seen with satellite coverage (e.g., lack of tree cover) whereas the NHD provides extensive linear data that cannot be captured in the CLC.
